Can you make it feel like home
It's the 4th day of the new year, honey, and I'm still unsure what I should be expecting from this year. I was once told that the way you spend the few minutes or hours between the previous year and the new year (basically new year's eve), that's the way the coming year will be for you. For example, the mood you're in when the clock strikes 12 and it is officially the new year. If you're happy and positive, the year for you will be happy and positive...if you're nervous and worried, the year for you will be worrying and nerve-wrecking. Do you think it's true? How then, for those who rang in the new year mournful? This is reassurance for such. Lana's eerie and mellow music video..'Born to Die'.
Happy new year to you all!

???
the other day i found myself in my local Weekday/Cheap Monday store and just as I walked in the playlist had changed to a what I presume to be some dark (witchgaze?) Finnish rap. Don't quite know what they are saying but I must say the somber bass is addictive.
the actual song starts at around 0:35 ..just in case you're wondering wtf is the beginning about.

I'm new here
So i'm still not over the previous post..Jamie xx's Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1...therefore I must do a follow up.
I've been listening to this mix everyday and it takes up 2hours of my life (which I don't mind even though I should probably do something more meaningful..like study). I'm not sure why I got into this so much. Maybe I connected deep to the music selection or maybe it was just the bass-lines dropping at the perfect time. Obviously, BBC Radio doesn't broadcast locally where I live unless I tune in online or I get some sort of digital satellite radio so I didn't know about BBC R1's collaboration with some really cool and relevant artists.
SO, I am challenging myself to search for Essential Mixes that my favorite artists have done, listen and see if I will enjoy them as much as I did Jamie xx. (PROGRESS: James Blake has an Essential Mix :O ..)
Anyway, in Jamie xx's Essential Mix there is one song that I can't get out of my head and its a collaboration of Jamie xx and Gil Scott-Heron (a legendary American Jazzist). His slow, deep, husky voice just makes the song...as well as the bass drop!

"You, Lucid"
Once again, the fresh Finnish band Aves have not disappointed!
With only 2 songs out so far 'Shoreline' and their newest single, 'You, Lucid', Aves is definitely trying to mark their territory when it comes to dreamy, hazy, chill sounds.
What do you think? Lucid?

Post- Flow Experience
OMG! Totally forgot that i didnt finish this post...
this is coming a bit, ehhhmm, late due to the recovery process, laziness and my short term memory, but I am still pissed.......my camera was confiscated at the gate by security because apparently it was 'high def' and if i didn't have a Press Pass I couldn't bring it in. That's some bull! Just because its bulky doesn't mean its hd...its a bulky 10.7 megapixel camera...zheesh!! Therefore, I do not have pictures to share...which means I have to describe everything...which means you won't fully grasp the amazingness of the Flow weekend.
I'm depressed ya'll!! Wondering how life's gonna continue without live music in the outdoors? How am I gonna wait till next year? Suffering from PTAFS (post traumatically amazing festival syndrome). Flow Festival was amazing!!! The venue looked amazing!!! People looked amazing!!! If I could have it my way, Flow would be everyday.
Flow rained hipsters that weekend. They were there in great numbers...and i wasn't complaining...there was excellent eye candy everywhere I looked!!
And of course, that's not why I went to Flow in the first place...music was the objective!
I think the main highlights from my Flow experience was watching MF Doom, Hercules and Love Affair, Empire of the Sun, Oni Ahyun (incredible minimal beats in the odd hours of the night...I was in some state) and after Oni Ahyun, I stayed to finish my saturday night (more like sunday morning) with Pantha du Prince. Ah, Mayer Hawthorne!! Its always nice to hear some soulful love songs. Rubik was definitely not a disappointment! I was standing quite in the middle near the front so the sound was amazing and the energy was great...Twin Shadow (George, the love of my life) was amazing! I felt that we definitely connected on a deeper artist-to-fan level..very intimate..i guess. Though I did try to tune out the old lady (ok, well middle aged) who was raping his lyrics and ruining my George experience. And, definitely Kanye West!! He killed it..loved it (except for the random moment when he autotuned "hold somebody you love tonight" way too many times while he was crying and whining about his perfect life). Because of Kanye, I missed most of James Blake's show...however, I did manage to catch my two favorite songs 'Limit To Your Love' and 'The Wilhelm Scream' <3 and James did a great job finish off my Flow experience.
Cant remember enjoying anything else i suppose...
Next year!! I definitely cant wait...I wonder what Flow has up its sleeves. But I am not missing out (knock on wood).
Thank you Flow!

Pre- Flow Experience
...it's finally here! Flow festival is here! If you dont know, Flow Festival is a grande music festival that takes place every summer in Helsinki, Finland.

After months and months of anticipation, I am happy to say that I am happy to start my first Flow experience tomorrow. Attending Flow will make or break my summer. A lot (read: my summer) is riding on this weekend, so Flow and all aspects that will be involved in the next few days better fucking impress.
3 days of food, wine, fashion (...festivals are the best place to judge people's..sens de la mode), dancing, friends and of course music. Listening to your favorite artists perform and discovering new meaningful music.
So excited. Today, I went to town to exchange my 3 day ticket for a 3 day wrist band. Managed to snatch myself a second Flow mag. because I must have left my first one in the metro a couple months ago. I hope my workplace doesn't complain about my wristband and all...if I'm gonna be handling food and stuff..anyway, fak it!
Getting the jitters ya'll!! A few of my favorite artists are coming. It's surreal that I will have them all in one place, yikes! I feel like I will be cheating on a few of them. I saw a few overlapping/conflicting schedules... :/ oh no! Twin Shadow vs. Mogwai!! Hercules and Love Affair vs Teeth!! Rksopp vs Blawan!! Mayer Hawthorne vs Iron&Wine!! and more...
Can't wait to see you George! On Sunday..soon, bb! You will complete my summer George!
...and so much more to look forward to.

the great elsewhere..
While I was doing some online Topshop/Topman shopping (well more like window shopping), I stumbled upon Topman's video project about a day in the life of 3 boys, Henry, Louis and Sid. There's a sense of mystery and enchantment when you watch it...which I really like.
After watching it, I couldn't help but wonder about the haunting instrumental. So I searched...
The actual song is actually just as good as the instrumental...but what is more intriguing is the video!
Good night! ..good morning! ..good day! ..where ever you are!

hoping that you die unhappy
GAAHHH!!! Probably late in discovery..but hey, can't get over this. You thought the 80s was back? Well early 90s vibes are back even harder...and apparently, the biggest thing since sliced bread! ...I have completely raped the replay button on several if not all of Blood Orange's singles.

Blood Orange is the project of Devonte Hynes aka Dev Hynes or you may know him as Lightspeed Champion...but thats besides the point, this bro is bringing back ghostly 80s vibes and I must say, j'adore!! So 90s, so noir, so melancholy and chill..feel like I belong (even more since I am a 90s child)!
GAAHHH!! This has got to be the best song....its officially my summer 2011 tchune!!!!
so i was thinking...should i, say, become a DJ and play next level beats like these to the masses who are over the mainstream shit?? you know, enjoy watching the masses enjoy my personal favorite tchunes. Kinda envy the people already doing this...
pondering...
